Detectives need help in shooting case
Detectives are asking the public for help with any information about a shooting in Palmetto that left a teen in critical condition.
At about 4 a.m. Saturday, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office was alerted of a gunshot victim being brought to a local hospital.
Witnesses told detectives that someone went up to the teen in the 300 block 21st Street West in Palmetto and shot him, according to sheriff’s office spokesman Dave Bristow. The 19-year-old man was shot in the upper body. He remains in critical condition.
Since then, detectives have not been able to develop any suspects in the case.
“We are asking anybody that may have seen anything in the area, 21st Street West, to call us or Crimestoppers,” Bristow said.
Because of his condition, the victim is unable to speak with detectives, according to Bristow.
Anyone with information can call the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office at 941-747-3011 or Crime Stoppers at 866-634-8477(TIPS), and be eligible for up to a $3,000 reward.
