The stolen racing bicycle of a visually impaired parathriathlete from Chile has been recovered.

The man was visiting from Chile to participate in the Sarasota-Bradenton World Cup Oct. 8. His Cannondale bike, valued at around $8,000, was stolen from his hotel room two days later.

The Sarasota Police Department said a resident located the red and white two-seater bike in the 2400 block of 17th Street on Wednesday afternoon and relayed the information to the department.

The victim has since returned home to Chile, but police are working to get in contact with him to arrange for the bike’s return.
