The Sarasota Police Department is working to recover a professional racing bike that was stolen from a visually impaired paratriathlon athlete.

The white with a red stripe Cannondale bike, which is valued at $8,000, was stolen from the victim’s hotel room at the Quality Inn at 4800 North Tamiami Trail sometime between 2 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.

The victim came from Chile to compete in the Sarasota-Bradenton World Cup paratriathlon Oct. 8 on Bradenton Beach. He is visually impaired and uses a guide while racing.
