United Way of Manatee County launches Manatee Mind Trust initiative
Manatee Mind Trust, a new initiative launched by United Way of Manatee County, will look to help children move from “learning to read” to “reading to learn.”
United Way of Manatee County is bringing together philanthropists, employers, volunteers and community partners to support programs for healthy birth and childhood, financial stability for families, and, importantly, helping children bridge the transformation from “learning to read” to “reading to learn” by age 9 — a key factor in predicting graduation rates and future earnings, according to organizers.
United Way of Manatee County is directing more than $515,000 to local programs that align with the community’s aspirations for education, health and income stability, according to organizers.
