GoFundMe launched for Parrish teen killed in Wisconsin crash, family says
A Parrish family is seeking help after an 18-year-old was killed when a passenger van crashed into a building in Wisconsin.
A GoFundMe created on behalf of Cayden Dileo’s father had raised around $23,000 of its $25,000 goal as of Thursday afternoon to help bring him home to Florida and cover funeral, burial and other expenses.
“We’re asking for help so Tom can focus on grieving his son instead of worrying about the financial burden,” organizers wrote. “Your generosity will help bring Cayden home where he can be laid to rest surrounded by his family and loved ones.”
According to the fundraiser, Dileo was visiting his grandparents in Wisconsin when he was killed Monday. He had been preparing to enter his senior year of high school.
The Grand Chute Police Department said the Parrish teenager died after a van entered a building while attempting to park, striking him and several other people inside. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Two other people suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening, according to police.
Organizers described the loss as devastating for Cayden Dileo’s family.
“Our family is facing a heartbreaking tragedy that no father should ever have to endure,” organizers wrote on the fundraiser’s page.
According to the fundraiser, Cayden is survived by his father, Tom Dileo, his sister, Kylee Dileo, and his brothers, Zachary and Gage.
The crash remains under investigation.
