State budget includes $140M for Manatee County projects. See the full list

More than $140 million in appropriations on the recently-approved state budget could help fund critical projects and services throughout Manatee County.

The millions of dollars proposed for Manatee County its municipalities would go toward major road improvements, wastewater infrastructure, homelessness services and the expansion of the State College of Florida.

State lawmakers reached an agreement on May 29 for the upcoming fiscal year’s budget. The budget is still pending approval by Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Appropriations for Manatee County Government include $5 million for the Fort Hamer interchange, $1.5 million for the Singletary Road Bridge Replacement and $1.3 million for Phase 2 of Fresh Start Manatee, which will expand the program’s facility that provides temporary housing and services to help homeless individuals.

There’s also $3 million earmarked for the 51st Street West Extension between 53rd Avenue West and El Conquistador Parkway. In November, Manatee County Commissioners voted to name the future extension “Charlie Kirk Memorial Boulevard” after Kirk’s assassination in September.

The City of Bradenton may also receive about $6 million for wastewater projects like the injection well pump at the Water Reclamation Facility and the Lift Station No. 8 relocation.

These appropriations are still subject to DeSantis’s veto when he approves the budget before the start of the fiscal year in July.

Last year, DeSantis vetoed $5 million in Manatee County projects like funds for Fresh Start Manatee, Rural Health Services and the Veterans Connections Hub.
