Bradenton’s Motorworks faces eviction. It’s not the first money trouble

As a Bradenton brewery faces foreclosure due to $1.9 million in outstanding loans, records show that the business has had other recent financial problems.

Motorworks Brewing, 1014 Ninth St. W., opened in 2014 as craft beer’s popularity exploded across Florida.

It was the first brewery to open in Bradenton and Manatee County, and it made a name for itself with award-winning beers, popular events and a 27,000-square-foot taproom and beer garden.

But records show that a decade later, the business was struggling to pay taxes.

In 2024, Motorworks was named in a lawsuit along with several other businesses for failing to pay property taxes on time, Manatee County court records show.

According to those records, Motorworks owed nearly $10,000 in property taxes at the time the suit was filed.

As of Wednesday, the brewery owes the Manatee County Tax Collector’s Office $30,192.44 in property taxes for the 2025 tax year.

Brewery faces foreclosure lawsuit

In the recently filed foreclosure lawsuit, Seacoast National Bank is seeking approximately $1.9 million across four loans that Motorworks Brewing LLC and Princess T LLC borrowed, court records show.

The bank is asking the court to order repayment of the loan’s principal, interest and late fees as well as grant a deficiency judgment, order the sale of the property and evict the tenants. The business could also be forced to sell its alcohol license.

Frank and Denise Tschida own Motorworks. The brewery has had several award-winning craft beers since opening in 2014, including the ThaIPA and Headlight Lager, which won gold at the 2026 Best Florida Beer Championship.
