Publix announces grand opening date for newest Manatee County grocery store
The new Publix in East Manatee has an opening date.
The grocer plans to open its store at 16642 State Road 64 E. in the Northchase Shopping Center on June 11.
The store covering 55,701 square feet, includes a liquor store and drive-thru pharmacy. The Lakeland-based grocery giant filed paperwork with Manatee County Development Services in 2024 to build a store in the Northchase plaza located on the southwest corner of Uihlein Road.
There are nearly 20 Publix locations in Manatee County.
In addition to the liquor store and pharmacy, the Northchase Publix will have the following departments: floral, meats and cheeses, produce, bakery, deli and seafood.
Newer stores, including one at the Marketwalk at North River Ranch in Parrish and the recently renovated Bayshore Gardens location, feature bigger layouts with new made-to-order food options at a sushi counter in the deli.
Those food options include ramen, chicken teriyaki and rice and poke bowls.
Publix is anchoring the Northchase plaza, which was first approved for a rezone of 14.89 acres for an 80,000-square-foot shopping center at a November 2023 Manatee County land use meeting.
