A new Publix is coming to East Manatee in a new shopping center.

Manatee County building records show plans to construct a Publix grocery store at the planned Northchase Shopping Center, located at 16600 State Road 64 East on the southwest corner of Uihlein Road is under review.

As of Monday evening, Manatee County Building Services’ records show building permit applications to have a 55,454-square-foot Publix anchor the Northchase plaza.

There are 18 Publix stores in Manatee County, according to the Lakeland-based grocery giant’s website.

An opening date for the Publix at the Northchase Shopping Center has not been announced.

In August 2022, Fort Myers-based North American Properties proposed 9.6 acres be rezoned from general agriculture to planned development commercial, the Bradenton Herald previously reported. In November 2023, a rezone of 14.89 acres for an 80,000-square-foot shopping center, under owners NAP McEast LLC and SMR Northeast LLC, was approved unanimously at a Manatee County land use meeting.
