Busy roads and a major bridge to close for Bradenton Area River Regatta. What to know
Drivers traveling around downtown Bradenton and Palmetto should expect major road closures during Saturday’s 10th annual Bradenton Area River Regatta.
The popular event, which features powerboat racing, live music and other family-friendly fun, is expected to draw large crowds to the Riverwalk, downtown Bradenton and Palmetto.
Road closures will begin at 4 a.m. Saturday, police officials said. The roads will not reopen until the event has ended and crews have cleared the area late Saturday night.
Here’s which roads will be closed for the Bradenton Area River Regatta.
The Green Bridge will be closed to cars, electric bikes and scooters. Visitors can take a free trolley from the bridge to Bradenton and Palmetto between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Ninth Street West will be closed between Manatee Avenue and the Green Bridge.
12th Street West (Old Main Street) will be closed between Manatee Avenue and Barcarrota Boulevard.
10th Street West will be closed from the City Centre garage to the Riverwalk.
Third Avenue West will be open only for eastbound traffic between Ninth Street West and First Street/U.S. 41.
Drivers looking to travel between Bradenton and Palmetto must use the DeSoto Bridge.
Free parking is available in the city’s parking lots and garages, except for the parking lot between the City Centre garage and City Hall.
Visitors must have a VIP parking permit to use the parking lot at Rossi Park at the Riverwalk.
The Bradenton Area River Regatta kicks off at 5:15 p.m. Friday with live music and a drone and fireworks show. The fun continues at 10 a.m. Saturday with powerboat races, stunt dog shows and more.
The weather will be pleasant during the event this weekend, with highs in the lower 70s and lows in the upper 50s, forecasters said.
