Watch as alligator lunges at golfers in a cart on a Florida course. ‘Oh my God.’

Golfing in Florida can bring more hazards than just water.

Alligators are often lurking in ponds and lakes on a course.

But having a gator lunge at you while driving along the cart path?

That was what happened to golfers in Ave Maria, Florida recently. In a video captured by Denise Prues, according to multiple outlets including Storyful, a gator was walking on the grass between two homes when two golf carts drove along a nearby path on the Southwest Florida course.

The first cart zipped along as the gator, which appeared to be about 10-12 feet, marched between the two homes, eventually getting toward the out-of-bounds stake separating the yards and the course when the rear cart drove along the path that was also bordered by water.

From there, the gator leaped toward the cart with its mouth open, which forced the driver to swerve out of the way toward the water and carry on unharmed. The gator continued its journey into the body of water.

Prues said on the 1 minute, 19 second video, “Oh my God,” as the gator walked between the houses followed by, “Ohh,” as it lunged and missed the second cart’s driver and passenger.

“I heard a noise in the side yard and looked up and the alligator was slowly walking between the houses,” Prues told Storyful about the video recorded Feb. 16. “I was on my phone so quickly switched over to video.”

Ave Maria is about 7 miles south of Immokalee and 36 miles northeast of Naples in Collier County.
