PulteGroup recently announced it bought 724 acres for a second Del Webb community in Lakewood Ranch.

The 55-plus development, called Del Webb Catalina, is planned for 1,300 single-family homes and attached villas south of State Road 64 and east of Bourneside Boulevard. It will be Manatee County’s third Del Webb community.

The first Del Webb at Lakewood Ranch, which sold out in 2022, is south of State Road 70 and west of Bourneside Boulevard.

“We are pleased to introduce Del Webb Catalina to active Lakewood Ranch homebuyers who want a beautiful home in a setting emphasizing health, wellness and an engaging social lifestyle,” Josh Graeve, president of PulteGroup’s Southwest Florida Division, said in a news release.

“Del Webb is committed to providing our residents with unsurpassed resort-inspired amenities and a new way of living where there’s a true sense of a community,” Graeve said.

Del Webb Catalina amenities would include pickleball, tennis and bocce courts, fitness facilities and trails and walking paths along lakes and preserves. It is also planned for a community garden, an event lawn and dog park.

Del Webb Catalina would be built on former Taylor Ranch property bordering Sweetwater and Cresswind villages, said Laura Cole, senior vice president of LWR Communities, LLC.

Developer Schroeder-Manatee Ranch submitted paperwork to Manatee County Development Services in 2022 to begin site preparation for Del Webb Catalina. The tract is part of a 2,141-acre purchase by SMR, developer of Lakewood Ranch, on Feb. 22, 2019. SMR paid $13.5 million for the property.

PulteGroup is also selling homes in northern Manatee County. Del Webb BayView is on about 500 acres at the intersection of Moccasin Wallow Road and Carter Road, north of Palmetto and west of Parrish.
