Parrish woman scores $1 million on Florida Lottery game ticket from a local Publix
A Parrish woman is more than half a million dollars richer after winning big on a scratch-off Florida Lottery game.
Terasa Katsaros, 51, bought a play in the “$1,000,000 a Year For Life Spectacular” from the Publix at 11245 North U.S. Highway 301 in Parrish, the Florida Lottery said in a news release Monday.
The ticket revealed a worth of $1 million. Katsaros chose to receive her winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $640,000.
The “$1,000,000 a Year for Life Spectacular” game launched in February and costs $50 a play. The Manatee County resident claimed one of 234 prizes worth $1 million. 156 now remain.
Odds of repeating Katsaros’s luck on the scratch-off are 1 in 185,709, according to the Florida Lottery. Overall odds of winning something from the scratch-off are 1 in 4.5.
The game offers prizes ranging from $100 to $1 million, plus two top prizes worth $1 million a year for life. Both top prizes are still unclaimed.
Other lottery winners
The Publix location will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the ticket, the Florida Lottery said.
A portion of the proceeds from lottery games fund statewide education initiatives in Florida, including the Bright Futures Scholarship Program.
Other local big-ticket winners this year include a Bradenton man who won a $5 million top prize in April and a Sarasota resident who won $1 million in January.
