Sarasota Bradenton airport announces new nonstop flight to another New England city
Breeze Airlines — which arrived at Sarasota Bradenton International Airport in June 2022 with service to New Haven, Connecticut — has added another New England city.
Starting July 13, the low-fare airline will begin offering service between SRQ and Providence, Rhode Island.
Tickets for the new destination are on sale through Monday, Feb. 20, at an introductory fare starting from $59 one way.
“We are excited that Breeze Airways is adding a third nonstop flight at SRQ. Providence, Rhode Island, is a destination that travelers have been requesting for years and we look forward to welcoming this new service,” Rick Piccolo, the airport’s president and CEO, said in a news release.
Breeze has two existing routes on sale for travel through March, starting at $39 one way from SRQ:
▪ Hartford, Conn., from $39 through March 7, or from $49 from March 22-31
▪ New York/Westchester County, N.Y., from $59 through March 7 or from $64 from March 22-31.
“We always look for routes that people are traveling today but can’t get there nonstop. Now Sarasota-Bradenton residents can now get to Providence twice as fast, for about half the price,” David Neeleman, Breeze Airways’ founder and CEO, said in the news release.
Previously, the Bradenton Herald reported that another low-fare airline, Southwest plans to offer service to Providence as well.
Starting March 11, Southwest will be adding Buffalo, New York, Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Providence, Rhode Island, as destinations for two months.
Although the timing coincides with spring break, Piccolo previously said the destinations could actually see a longer run.
Sarasota Bradenton International Airport set a record 2022 with a record 3.8 million passengers served.
