Emergency water line repairs on New Year’s Eve may have an impact on Manatee County residents

Residents in Manatee County who live north of the Manatee River in places like Palmetto, Ellenton and Parrish may notice discolored water and low water pressure in their homes.

In a press release on Saturday, Manatee County officials said utility crews and contractors are working to make emergency repairs to a leaking pipe in the main transmission line near the county’s water treatment plant.

While repairs are being made, some residents may experience discolored water and lower-than-normal water pressure.

Although the water is discolored, it is still safe to drink, according to the release.

Workers have closed valves near the leak in order to make emergency repairs.

The repairs are expected to be finished by the end of the day on Sunday.

The county does not expect any homes to go without water while repairs are being made, but if water has to be turned off in any homes, those residents will be notified by the county of any interruptions to their water supply.

If you notice an unexpected service outage, please notify the county immediately by calling 311.
