Will it rain on New Year’s Eve 2022 in Bradenton, Manatee? Here’s what forecasters say
Manatee County residents should prepare for rain, fog and cloudy skies on New Year’s Eve as a cold front passes through the area on Saturday, forecasters say.
However, rain threats should drop by midnight, leaving the clouds as the perfect background in the sky for fireworks, Sarasota’s Pineapple Drop, and other New Year’s Eve events.
Showers and thunderstorms are likely before 10 a.m. on New Year’s Eve morning, and there is a possibility of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m.
Fog could form in some areas of the county before 10 a.m.
Aside from that, the weather should be cloudy, with a high of 76 degrees on Saturday.
Rodney Wynn, a National Weather Service meteorologist in Tampa, told the Bradenton Herald on Friday afternoon that a cold front is expected to come across the area Saturday afternoon, increasing rainfall to 40%.
Residents should expect rain, thunderstorms and breezy conditions most of the day with wind gusts up to 21 mph.
Bradenton’s highest rain chances are expected between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday.
Wynn said that rain chances should decrease by Saturday evening, although the sky will remain mostly cloudy with a low of around 64.
On New Year’s Day, there should be clouds but no rain, with a high of 75 — much warmer than what residents experienced on Christmas weekend when highs struggled to reach the 50s and wind chills made it feel more like 20.
