Another November weekend is here, and there’s plenty of local fun on tap to help you enjoy it.
Tropical Storm Nicole canceled some local events on Thursday, but conditions are expected to be back to normal by this weekend.

Cortez Stone Crab & Music Festival
This outdoor weekend festival will feature fresh local seafood (including lots of stone crab), drinks, art vendors and three performance stages with live local musicians.
Genres in the lineup include blues, rock and country.
“Music will continue into the evening on stages at the Swordfish Grill & Tiki Bar and The Cortez Kitchen,” organizers say.
There will also be a kid’s zone for children 12 and under.
Parking will be available for $5 at the F.I.S.H. Preserve, just west of 115th Street West off of Cortez Road West.

Sarasota Medieval Fair
Step back into the Middle Ages and partake in a day of medieval merriment at the 18th annual Sarasota Medieval Fair.
Walk among peasants and royalty, sup on turkey legs and other delights, peruse the offerings of ancient vendors and enjoy entertainment like jousting, comedy, rides, games and period music. Don’t forget to dress the part.
This is the fair’s second year at its new home in the “Woods of Mallaranny,” a 47-acre festival grounds in Myakka City.
The 2022 event will have an 11th century Viking theme that plays off of the historical Battle of Assandun, when invading Danish fought the English.

Siesta Key Crystal Classic
Expert sand sculptors will compete on the beaches of Siesta Key this weekend to see who can create the most exquisite sand art in the 12th annual Siesta Key Crystal Classic.
The event draws international artists and features a solo competition and a team competition.
In addition to watching amazing sand sculptures take shape, the Crystal Classic has more fun to offer visitors. The event includes a food court, vendors and live music throughout the weekend.
On Saturday night, the sculptures will be illuminated with colored lights after dark. An awards ceremony announcing the winners will be held Sunday.
Due to Tropical Storm Nicole, Friday’s portion of the event is now closed to the public.

Symphony on the Sand
The Anna Maria Island Concert Chorus and Orchestra’s eighth annual Symphony on the Sand happens this Saturday on Coquina Beach.
The event promises three hours of fine food and drink and music provided by Anna Maria Island’s 45-piece orchestra.
Guests can buy a general admission ticket for $25 and bring their own seating or upgrade for other seating, dining and VIP options.

Food truck festival
More than 60 food trucks and vendors will meet up and dish out a variety of cuisine this Saturday and Sunday at “Suncoast’s Largest Food Truck Festival 2.0” in Sarasota.
The mega foodie affair will be held in Lot 4 on the east side of The Mall at University Town Center. It will also include a family fun zone with games, face painting and bounce houses. Parking and entry are free.
The event coincides with “Santa’s Grand Arrival & Parade” on Saturday as The Mall at UTC kicks off the holiday season.

Mall at UTC hosts Santa parade, fireworks
The Mall at University Town Center will ring in the holiday season this weekend with the “Santa’s Grand Arrival & Parade” celebration.
“Enjoy lighted floats, live bands, dance troops, holiday characters and more during the parade from 6-8 p.m., followed by the lighting of the UTC districts, a spectacular fireworks show and an after party from 8-9:30 p.m.” an event description says.

Friendly City Flea
On Saturday, the Friendly City Flea at Oscura in downtown Bradenton will welcome a “curated gathering of makers, musicians and creatives,” organizers say.

New exhibits at ArtCenter Manatee
Two new exhibits are on display at ArtCenter Manatee this weekend.
“Raymond Lawler: Tales of a Traveler” is a curated exhibit showcasing the multimedia work of the local artist.
“Where the HeArt Grows” is an open, all media juried exhibit of regional artists.

Farmers’ markets
Downtown Bradenton Public Market: This weekly market is a community gathering place that welcomes vendors offering fresh local produce, meat, pantry and home goods, packaged foods, plants, clothing, accessories and more.
Food, drink and dessert vendors make the market a great place to grab a tasty snack.
This year, the market is nearly doubling in size with plans to host about 100 vendors each week, including a core group of businesses and some rotating selections, organizers say.
The market also features live music performances from different regional artists each week. Kid’s activities, special events and cooking demonstrations add to the fun throughout the season.

The Farmers’ Market at Lakewood Ranch welcomes more than 90 regional vendors to Waterside Place each Sunday. Ruskin Family Drive-In: In operation since 1952, this drive-in plays new movies, classic flicks AND family favorites with showings Wed.-Sun.

Fun at the museum
The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature: Explore the past, present and future of the natural world with interactive displays and exhibits, stellar shows in the famed Planetarium, an indoor manatee habitat, the Mosaic Backyard Universe for kids and more at The Bishop in downtown Bradenton.

Florida Maritime Museum: Florida Maritime Museum documents the age-old relationship between Floridians and the water. Visitors will find marine life displays, historical photos and documents, revolving exhibits and a gift shop.
On the second and fourth Saturday of each month, the museum hosts a “Music on the Porch” outdoor jam session. From 2-4 p.m., local pickers and players come together to share tunes and singalongs with the crowd.
Masks are currently required inside museum buildings.

Manatee County Agricultural Museum: Explore Manatee County’s rich agricultural past and present at the Manatee County County Agricultural Museum. Permanent exhibits include displays of authentic farm tools and equipment and highlights of various crops and industries that have taken root in Manatee County over the decades. There’s also a revolving lineup of special exhibits to check out.

Sarasota Art Museum: Operated by Ringling College of Art and Design, the Sarasota Art Museum displays revolving exhibits of contemporary artwork.
The museum is housed in the former Sarasota High School building and offers 15,000 square feet of gallery space to showcase paint, sculpture, photography, furniture making, experimental art and more.
Events at the museum include curator and artist talks, live jazz every second Thursday of the month and free entry and family fun on the second Sunday of each month.
Visitors can also enjoy a gift shop and a bistro.
