Manatee Memorial Hospital is branching out with a free-standing ER in Bradenton area
Manatee Memorial Hospital broke ground Friday for the ER at Bayshore Gardens, its first freestanding emergency room in Manatee County.
The new ER at 5506 14th St. W. would offer emergency care 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Opening is forecast for the first quarter of 2023.
Manatee Memorial opened its first free-standing emergency room May 11 at Sun City Center, in Hillsborough County at 16504 S. U.S. 301, adjacent to Walmart.
“We are honored to be expanding in Manatee County with the second freestanding emergency room for Manatee Memorial Hospital. By expanding our emergency services, we can better meet the needs of our growing communities and provide access to emergency care where it is needed,” Tom McDougal, CEO of Manatee Memorial Hospital, said in a statement.
“No matter what the emergency, the new ER at Bayshore Gardens is equipped to handle everything from minor conditions to stabilizing treatment for major conditions such as heart attack and stroke,” McDougal said.
ER at Bayshore Gardens would always be staffed by a physician. The 10,884-square-foot ER will have six exam rooms, three rapid medical exam spaces, nine treatment areas, a full-service laboratory, X-ray, CT, and ultrasound equipment.
Manatee Memorial Hospital is a member of the Manatee Healthcare System, which also owns and operates Lakewood Ranch Medical Center.
In recent years, hospital-owned, stand-alone ERs have become more commonplace.
Recently opened: an ER at Fruitville, an extension of Lakewood Ranch Medical Center, a full-service emergency department that provides emergency care on the east side of Interstate 75 at 6760 Fruitville Road in Sarasota.
Doctors Hospital of Sarasota opened its first facility in Manatee County, a stand-alone emergency room, in 2018 at 8500 State Road 70 E., near Lakewood Ranch.
