Recycling ends June 6 in city of Bradenton. Here’s what to do with your blue bin

As Bradenton moves to end curbside recycling pickup, the city is offering to collect the bins from residents who no longer need them.

Starting June 6, the city will no longer pick up recycling materials. Instead, residents who want to recycle will need to bring their products to one of 10 drop-off sites throughout Bradenton.

The blue recycling bins are being repurposed to hold yard waste, such as grass clippings and tree branches.

The changes mean that some people, such as residents who live in a condo that hires landscapers, will no longer require a bin. If you fall into that category, Bradenton will come remove the bin from your house.

Call Bradenton’s Public Works Department at (941) 708-6340 and provide your address in order to have your bin taken away. Speaking with the Bradenton Herald, city spokesperson Jeannie Roberts said staffers have heard from residents who want to give up their recycling bins.

“If you have no further need for the recycle bin, even as a yard waste bin, please call (Public Works) with your address,” Roberts said. “The staff will give you direction regarding when we will pick it up.”

Regular trash will still be collected twice a week and yard waste will be collected once a week.

For those who plan to continue recycling, containers will be placed at the following locations:

  • East end of San Ortebello Drive, next to the water tower

  • 100 22nd St. NE, in the parking lot

  • 1000 24th St. E., next to the Dream Center

  • Cordova Lakes, at the intersection of 38th Ave. W and 61st St. W.

  • 17th Ave. W. Park at Wares Creek

  • 3120 First Ave. W. at Lewis Park

  • Meadowcroft Community Center, 58th St. W. and 15th Ave. W.

  • 9800 State Road 64, Palma Sola Causeway, near the solid waste dumpster

  • 2718 13th Ave. W., 28th St. W. Park

  • 2905 59th St. W., near the Red Cross Building
