Ellenton man dies of injuries from motorcycle wreck, woman dies after September wreck
A 72-year-old Ellenton man who was critically injured in a wreck involving two motorcycles last week has died, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident happened around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday on State Road 62 (Wauchula Road), east of U.S. 301 in Parrish.
Troopers reported that the Ellenton man failed to drop his speed when another motorcyclist in front of him began to slow down. The Ellenton man was thrown from his motorcycle when it collided with the side of the slowing bike.
He was transported to Blake Medical Center in critical condition and died there on Thursday.
Crash investigators reported last week that the Ellenton man was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
The other motorcyclist, a 58-year-old Bradenton man, was not injured. An investigation of the crash is still open, according to FHP.
Bradenton woman dies after September crash
FHP also reported Monday that a 77-year-old Bradenton woman has died after she sustained serious injuries in a crash on Sept. 27.
That accident occurred around 4:19 p.m. on Cortez Road West in Bradenton.
Troopers report that the 77-year-old woman was at a stop sign in a sedan at a business entrance driveway at 6305 Cortez Road when she attempted to make a left turn into the westbound lanes of traffic. However, she turned in front of an oncoming vehicle in the eastbound lanes, troopers say.
A sedan driven by a 20-year-old Bradenton man collided with the side of the woman’s car. The impact sent the woman’s car into a nearby parking area. The woman was transported to Blake Medical Center on Sept. 27 for care, according to FHP, and she died on Sunday.
Troopers report that the Bradenton woman was wearing a seat-belt at the time of the collision.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
