Four seriously hurt in head-on crash
Four people were seriously or critically injured after a two-car crash in Sarasota Thursday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Around 2:32 p.m., a 36-year-old Venice woman was driving a 2004 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck with two passengers southbound on McIntosh Road, just south of Sarasota Square Boulevard. A 52-year-old Englewood man driving a 2002 Ford Econoline van was northbound on McIntosh Road.
According to FHP, the pickup truck veered into the northbound lane, causing a head-on collision with the van.
Sarasota County Emergency Services said three of the four people were trapped. They were taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, while a 14-year-old passenger was transported to All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg.
The crash is under investigation, according to FHP.
