One dead in three-car crash on Siesta Key
A three-car crash on Siesta Key has now turned fatal, the Sarasota Police Department announced Thursday.
Guy Theron, 57, died of his injuries after being transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital Wednesday evening. Theron had an Uber sticker on his silver 2008 Dodge minivan, but police said he was not driving for Uber at the time and no passenger was in his vehicle.
Investigators believe Theron was speeding northbound on Higel Avenue toward the intersection of Faubel Street around 6 p.m. when he swerved for an unknown reason. Two southbound cars were hit in the process.
An 18-year-old Sarasota man was driving a gold 2000 Honda, and was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Two Sarasota residents, ages 17 and 19, in a black Scion were transported with serious and critical injuries, respectively. Both are expected to recover.
The crash is still under investigation, police said.
