Nonprofit looks to provide beds for every shelter dog
A nonprofit focused on Manatee County Animal Services wants to ensure that every dog at the Palmetto shelter has a bed.
After an event last Saturday, that goal is a little closer to reality but there are still 40 dogs without a bed, according to Caryn Hodge with Friends of Manatee County Animal Services.
During the “Slumber, Build-A-Bed Party” event, volunteers built 40 Kuranda dog beds, which were purchased by Friends of Manatee County Animal Services.
“During their stay at the shelter, we want to make sure these dogs are as comfortable and happy as possible and these beds will help provide that,” said Kassandra Zess-Pagel, the nonprofit’s vice president. “Dogs that are happier in their kennels have a better chance of being adopted.”
Each bed costs between $50 to $70, according to a news release. To donate, go to fomcas.org or call 941-713-3105.
