Attractions around Bradenton and Sarasota reopening from COVID-19 shutdowns 

Attractions around Bradenton are reopening from COVID-19 shutdowns with new safety measures in place.

Museums, aquariums, craft breweries and botanical gardens are among the latest places to welcome back the public.

Here is a roundup of some current and upcoming reopenings.

Bradenton

The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature will reopen on June 3 with new hours and safety measures in place. Ticket prices have been reduced while The Planetarium and the Mosaic Backyard Universe remain closed. Remaining attractions include the natural history museum, the manatee habitat and a special exhibition photos by nature photographer Clyde Butcher titled “Myakka River: A Florida Treasure.”

All visitors over age 2 will be required to wear masks, and social distancing guidelines will be enforced. Other new safety measures include one-way passage through exhibits, touch-free procedures at check-in and the gift shop and timed entry on the hour to limit the number of people inside. Advanced ticket purchase is strongly encouraged.

Starting June 10, special seniors-only hours for guests 65 and up will be offered on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to noon.

Details: Reopening June 3. New hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday with timed entry on the hour. Breweries: Most of the craft breweries in the Bradenton area have reopened taprooms with food offerings on site. Now open are:

The taproom at Corporate Ladder Brewing, 4935 96th St. E., Palmetto, remains closed, but the brewery continues to offer beer to-go.

Loaded Cannon Distillery, 3115 Lakewood Ranch Blvd., Bradenton, has also reopened its tasting room.

Restaurants: Many local restaurants have reopened for dine-in service, some with expanded patio seating for those who would rather sit in the open air.

Takeout, delivery and curbside pickup are also available at many local restaurants.

Sarasota

Marie Selby Botanical Gardens has reopened with its regular hours in place and reduced ticket prices for adults. Online ticket purchase is required.

Details: Open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. daily. Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, 900 S. Palm Ave., Sarasota. Ages 4-17: $15. Ages 18 and up: $15.

Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium has set June 5 as a reopening date. New safety measures will be in place, including a timed ticket entry system, social distancing and hand sanitizing stations. Masks will be required for visitors older than 5. All tickets must be purchased in advance online, and guests will only be allowed to enter under the time provided on the ticket.

High-touch experiences such as the animal touch habitats, hurricane wind simulator and virtual reality experience will remain closed until further notice, and presentations and narrations have been temporarily paused.

One Eyed Jacks Poker Room at the Sarasota Kennel Club is reopened as of May 22. New safety measures at the game room include physical barriers, temperature checks at the door and a mandatory mask policy.

The Ringling is reopened as of May 27. All visitors are encouraged to wear masks and purchase tickets in advance online. Some museum attractions will remain limited or closed during the first phase of reopening. Adult and senior ticket prices have been reduced through June 30.
