Deadline is close for property tax exemptions in Manatee County. Here’s how to file
The deadline to apply for certain property tax exemptions is in less than two weeks.
Eligible property owners can apply for these exemptions to save money on their property tax bill by March 1, the Manatee County Property Appraiser’s Office announced.
Exemptions are available for low-income seniors, disability, widows/widowers, agricultural classifications and homesteaded properties. Manatee County property owners who bought a home in 2021 or are not yet receiving a homestead exemption will need to file by the March 1 deadline.
In order to qualify for a homestead exemption, property owners must have owned and occupied the home before Jan. 1, 2022. Homestead exemption applications will be required to submit the following information:
Florida driver’s license or Florida ID card
Florida vehicle registration for all owned vehicles
Florida Voter Registration or Declaration of Domicile
Resident Alien card (for non-U.S. citizens)
Social Security number
Copy of trust (if property is owned in a trust)
Filing for a homestead exemption can be submitted online by visiting www.ManateePAO.com. Other exemptions, including homestead exemptions, can be submitted by filing an application in the mail. Exemptions forms are available online under the Forms/Requests section.
