Gasoline more expensive in Bradenton-Sarasota

The price of regular unleaded gasoline in Bradenton-Sarasota jumped by an average of about 4 cents in the past week, according to AAA.

The average price in the area Monday was $2.016 per gallon, up from $1.979 a week earlier. Still, the average price was about 10 cents lower than a month ago and almost 40 cents lower than it was a year ago.

AAA said the increases in the past week were due to the price of oil jumping by $3 per barrel.

Statewide, the average price of regular unleaded increased by 3 cents, to $2.083 per gallon.
