CareerEdge Funders Collaborative and Suncoast Technical College are teaming up to offer a Plumbing Technology certification program this fall.
The eight-month class is tuition-free and will be held from 7:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Monday through Friday beginning Sept. 8 at Suncoast Technical College. The course is aimed at 18- to 25-year-olds who have not entered a traditional college program, but it’s open to students of all ages.
Upon completion of the program, graduates will have the opportunity to enter apprenticeships with local employers that could lead to full-time jobs, according to a CareerEdge press release.
“The specialty trades, such as plumbing, will experience the biggest shortfalls due to specialized training needs and required schooling,” Jaime DiDomenico, president at Cool Today/Plumbing Today/Energy Today, said in a press release.” While the needs are keen in the construction side of the business, the service side will steadily grow double digit percentage increases due to more homeowner occupancy.”
Suncoast Technical College is hosting a job fair from 5-7 p.m. Friday at its Sarasota campus, 4748 S. Beneva Road. There will be employers and college representatives available to speak about the Plumbing Technology program.
