Sarasota construction company wins two Wal-Mart bids

Within the past two weeks, Sarasota’s Satterfield & Pontikes Construction won two contracts to build Wal-Mart stores.

The construction and design-build company will construct a Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market on Clark Road and Wal-Mart Beer, Wine and Spirits store on University Parkway. The two contracts make for the company’s 20th and 21st since they entered the Florida market under the direction of T. Craig Campbell, director of operations.

The 38,750-square-foot Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market project located on Clark Road in the Palmer Crossings shopping plaza entails a 24-hour facility with full pharmacy services, groceries and a free in-store pickup service for web orders. The new store broke ground on June 15 and will employ up to 50 full- and part-time associates, according to a release from Grapevine Communications.

The 4,000-square-foot Wal-Mart Beer, Wine & Spirits store broke ground on June 20, 2016, at the corner of University Parkway and Lockwood Ridge. The store will employ up to 10 full- and part-time positions.
