Sonic plans restaurant at University Parkway and Tuttle Avenue

Sonic plans to open a second Manatee County restaurant according to plans filed with the county.

Plans for the restaurant are “in the door, but haven’t been routed yet,” according to Manatee County administrative planning review employee James Rigo. He confirmed the plans include a drive-thru and covered parking spaces with Sonic’s typical 1950s-style carhop service.

The plans also include 60 seats and Rigo said the design is a little different than other Sonic locations. Rigo didn’t have a firm timeline for the plan’s approval or issue of a building permit.
