D.R. Horton, a Texas-based home builder, purchased $2.4 million worth of land in East Manatee for its Cottages at San Lorenzo neighborhood, according to Manatee County property records. D.R. Horton purchased the property from Florida Coast Development Corp.

The purchase contains 40 lots just south of Interstate 75 and east of Salt Meadow Circle, between the Cottages at San Casciano and Blue Heron Creek Apartments. D.R. Horton broke ground on the project in August, the Herald previously reported.

“We are offering single-family homes marketed under our Express Homes brand in this new community,” said D.R. Horton Tampa’s Darren Saltzberg in an email. “To date, we have purchased 40 of the 130 available lots.” Sales of the homes are scheduled to start in August with prices in the low $200s.

On the west side of Salt Meadow Circle are the Harbour Walk and Bella Sole communities, both built by another prominent Manatee County homebuilder, Medallion Home.

D.R. Horton has about a half-dozen neighborhoods in Manatee County with homes for sale or under construction.
