Port Manatee closes gate for reconstruction
As of June 13, the south gate entrance to Port Manatee will be closed for about 12 weeks while the reconstruction of the gate area brings better security and traffic flow. During the project, all port traffic will be routed through Port Manatee’s north gate complex at Reeder Road and North Dock Street, which may be accessed from U.S. 41 by turning west at Piney Point Road, about one-quarter mile north of the South Dock Street intersection.
The $1 million modernization project is funded primarily through a federal port security grant and is projected to be completed by Sept. 1.
