Faces in Business: Christian Stakenborg, Sarasota
Christian Stakenborg
Owner
Stakenborg Fine Art, 1545 Main St., Sarasota, stakenborgfineart.com
Q: What was the best business advice you ever received?
A: Because of my knowledge of Rembrandt van Rijn, someone advised me to make Rembrandt my specialty. I have sold more Rembrandt etchings than any other small gallery in the country.
Q: If you could choose another profession, what would it be?
A: Art history teacher or professor.
Q: What is the biggest risk you’ve taken in your career?
A: Selling my thriving gallery in the Washington, D.C. area to open in brand new territory, Sarasota, in 2006. We have increased sales every year.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you start?
A: Paris, for obvious reasons. For love or art, love of the country and the wonderful food.
