SRQ’s Piccolo gets near-perfect evaluation
The chief executive of the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport has received top marks for his work performance as he works his 21st year in the position.
In his annual performance review this week, airport CEO Fredrick “Rick” Piccolo received a near-perfect score of 49.67 points from the six members of SRQ’s governing body, the Sarasota Manatee Airport Authority. The review gauges his work across 10 areas, including business development at the airport, financial management, staff development, community relations, leadership and regulatory compliance.
Manatee County authority representative Ann Moore was one of five commissioners who gave Piccolo a perfect score of 50 on the evaluation. She credited Piccolo with keeping finances at SRQ strong and for being an exceptional leader.
Robert Spencer, another Manatee County member of the authority, was the only evaluator to dock Piccolo a point. He rated his performance as 4 out of a possible 5 for business development.
Piccolo, 64, has run the airport since December 1995. He oversees about 130 airport employees.
The evaluation does not directly impact Piccolo’s salary and he will not receive a raise to coincide with its result. His contract with the airport provides for a 3 percent annual raise. He currently earns about $280,000 a year.
