The Sarasota Manatee Airport Authority recently installed four electric vehicle charging stations at the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport.

Located in SRQ’s short-term parking lot, the Level 2 charging stations will allow travelers with electric vehicles to recharge their cars. Fredrick “Rick” Piccolo, SRQ’s CEO, said providing the charging stations “is consistent with our ongoing efforts to integrate sustainability throughout the airport.”

The charging stations are complimentary for SRQ customers parking an electric vehicle in the short-term lot, in front of the terminal building. The charging slots can be used for both long- and short-term parking.

The airport installed the charging facilities in response to a growing number of travelers who drive electric vehicles. They were given prominent placement to raise awareness and promote the use of alternative fuel vehicles. The stations were installed as part of the airport’s $5 million curbside improvement project. They became operational Monday.

The airport authority will consider adding additional charging stations if demand is great enough.
