Attorneys with Bradenton law firm Blalock Walters will explain the ins and outs of new federal overtime regulations at a June 1 workshop open to members of the Manatee Chamber of Commerce, employers and others seeking to learn about how the rule change will affect the workforce.

Labor and employment attorneys Anne Chapman and Marisa Powers will present “New Overtime Regulations” at a Manatee Chamber of Commerce workshop June 1 at the Chamber’s downtown Bradenton office.

The Department of Labor has revised rules around overtime compensation. Chapman and Powers will explain the projected changes and how they will affect businesses, employers and the local economy. The proposed regulations are expected to significantly increase the number of employees eligible for overtime compensation by reducing the number of “exempt” employees under the Fair Labor Standards. Employers will require adequate time to implement the changes to absorb the increase cost of providing overtime pay and reorganize business structure.

For more information about this event, call the chamber at 941-748-3411.
