Faces in business: Robert C. Wentzell
Title: Insurance adviser
Company: Bradenton Insurance, 1400 Ballard Park Drive, Bradenton
What was the best business advice you ever received?
If you're thorough and diligent in every decision you make you will never look back. Then as you continue down the path of life or business you will only become more and more satisfied with what you see out the window, and that ultimately whenever the road ends, you will be nothing but fulfilled because where we arrive is determined by the decisions we make and path we take.
If you could choose another profession, what would it be?
It's hard to say as I thoroughly enjoy what I do at Bradenton Insurance so it would absolutely need to involve similar traits. I'm the type of person who really enjoys getting to know people, and then providing some kind of solution to either fix a problem or prevent one. If I wasn't advising my clients when it comes to insurance matters, I would likely be consulting business owners regarding something else, probably on how to best maximize efficiency when it comes their operational management practices.
What is the biggest risk you've taken in your career?
Leaving my comfort zone, everything I knew, and all the relationships I had formed over 22 years to get my MBA at The George Washington University. I grew up in Bradenton, went to college at UCF, and never ventured too far away from what I knew. Then I packed up my life, moved to Washington D.C., then moved to New York City-Connecticut after graduation, worked for two more years, and have ironically worked my way back to Bradenton and couldn't be happier. Sometimes taking risks can be the best thing for a career!
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you start?
Switzerland. I've seen some unbelievable pictures from that part of the world recently and can't think of a better place to start a European expedition to recount history and experience some of nature's beauty.
