Names & faces in Bradenton-Sarasota businesses, March 21

Ken Christy recently partnered with GJY Bookkeeping & Tax Services to offer clients expanded financial services including accounting, bookkeeping and tax preparation.

Shinn & Co., a CPA firm, has named Millard Martin as the firm's newest partner. Martin has worked with the company for the last 16 years, most recently as a principal. Martin earned his bachelor's degree in accounting and master's degree from the University of South Florida.

Sandra Loften joins Abrams Center for Women in Sarasota. Lofton trained in family practice and has spent the last eight years working with women of all ages. She has become an advocate for women and women's health issues and helps her patients to achieve an optimal sense of well-being. Loften earned her master's degree as a family practice nurse practitioner at Concordia University in 2008.

Kevin Kloepfer of NDC Construction Co. has been promoted to project manager after repeated successful projects as a project engineer. Kloepfer was raised in Florida and attended State College of Florida, where he graduated in 2007. He resides in Bradenton.

Jaime Garza, technician supervisor at CriticalVetCare Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center, has been named 2016 team member of the year by the Florida Veterinary Medical Association, according to Anne Chauvet, veterinary neurosurgeon and founder of CriticalVetCare. Garza was selected from among hundreds statewide and will receive the award April 14 at the 87th FVMA Annual Conference in Tampa. Garza's leadership skills have earned him increasing responsibilities since joining CriticalVetCare in 2011 as part of its surgery assistant crew. He is completing his studies to become a veterinary technician at Penn Foster.

Catherine Hartley is the new director of planning and

community development in Bradenton. Hartley worked as a senior planner with Hillsborough County and the city of St. Pete Beach. She has a master's degree in urban and regional planning from Florida State University.

Benjamin DeMarsh has joined Berlin Patten Ebling PLLC, the ninth attorney in the firm's expanding practice with offices in Lakewood Ranch, Sarasota and Venice. He will join the firm's litigation department and primarily practice in the areas of residential and commercial real property related litigation. DeMarsh is a graduate of the University of Florida and attended law school at the University of Texas School of Law. He is a member of the Sarasota County Bar Association.
