Christine Kourik has joined the sales team at Duncan Real Estate. Kourik has been in real estate for more than 25 years and has been featured on HGTV's House Hunters.
Veterinarian Anne Chauvet recently held a pharmacy, management, and legal continuing education program for 25 Southwest Florida veterinarians. Local attorney Jason Collier of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick spoke about employment law. Other speakers included Michael Blaire, of Diamondback Drugs, on pharmacy rules and regulations, Jan Kovacic, a pioneer in veterinary emergency/critical care and an expert in veterinary management, and Thomas Nicholl, of Thomas Nicholl Law Firm, on veterinary law. The session was held for veterinarians from Tampa to Fort Myers at the Hyatt Regency Sarasota.
The Centerstone of Florida Board of Directors has elected Linda Locke Agresta to serve on its board until 2018. Agresta has almost 40 years of teaching experience; most of it in Manatee County. She is the assistant director of Manatee Technical College. Agresta received her bachelor's degree in early childhood/elementary education from Florida State University and her master's degree in reading from Nova Southeastern University.
Dr. David S. Zamikoff of Natural Healing Arts Medical Center in Bradenton was selected one of America's Best Chiropractors for 2016 by the National Consumer Research Board. This is the third consecutive year he has received this award. Dr. Zamikoff has provided chiropractic services to the residents in Bradenton and Sarasota for more than 16 years.
Two family practice physicians have joined Sarasota Memorial Health Care System's First Physicians Group network.
Dr. Laura Nelson, DO, joined the FPG Internal Medicine/Pediatrics & Family Practice in its Rand Boulevard office with Drs. Emiliana Cruz-Hillis, Albert Novak and Kristen Paulus. She came to Sarasota from Minnesota, where she spent nearly 20 years as a family physician in Woodbury and Monticello.
Carlos F. Rodriguez, MD, joined the FPG Internal Medicine/Pediatrics & Family Practice in its University Parkway office with Drs. Sean Downing, Enas Sallam and Nick Sutera. He came to Sarasota from Arizona, where he spent five years working as an emergency room and primary care physician in Springdale, Fayetteville and Boonville. Before coming to the United States, he worked as an attending and ER physician in Colombia.
Jeffrey S. Goethe, a partner with Barnes, Walker, Goethe, Hoonhout, Perron & Shea, PLLC, recently participated in two continuing education seminars presented by the Florida Bar. Goethe lectured on Florida's homestead laws, including protection from creditor claims, protections for spouses and minor children, and the homestead property tax exemption. The panel discussion was part of a day-long seminar presented by the real property, probate and trust law section of the Florida Bar, where Goethe serves on the executive council.
