Faces in business: Richard H. Bundschu, M.D.

Title: Interventional pain physician

Company: Coastal Orthopedics Sports Medicine and Pain Management, 6015 Pointe West Blvd., Suite 100,

Bradenton

What was the best business advice you ever received?

In a medical practice the philosophy is to create an optimal outcome as word will spread very quickly how good of a medical service you provide. That's the model I live by.

If you could choose another profession, what would it be?

Marine biologist. I would still consider this and I'd enjoy working with marine mammals, but I am very satisfied with what I do now. I get pleasure from helping people accomplish tasks that pain prevented them from performing.

What is the biggest risk you've taken in your career?

When I finished my training in Miami, I moved out of state and opened a private practice. Then I made the decision to leave a very successful practice to come back to Florida. It was worth the risk, this practice is now doing very well.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you start?

My wife is Brazilian so we go a lot to Brazil. But on my list is Australia. It seems so inviting because it's one country with a plethora of activities, culture, terrain and beaches.
