Tropiflora's spring festival is sure to bring out the plant lover in everyone

MANATEE COUNTY -- If you can identify bromeliads, Rhipsalis, Hoya or Dischidia you probably won't want to miss Tropiflora's annual spring festival this weekend.

The more than six-acre nursery off of Tallevast Road is hosting its 14th annual plant festival and sale where the plants are the main attraction. But visitors can also come to hear live music and visit other vendors.

Dennis and Linda Catchcart are members of the Sarasota Bromeliad Society and their love of rare and exotic plants is apparent on a visit to the nursery. In addition to its own plants, Tropiflora hosts about 20 outside vendors selling plant material from bamboo to bougainvilleas during the festival weekend,

The festival at 3530 Tallevast Road continues today from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
