New Aldi supermarket in Lakewood Ranch changes opening to early July
The fast-growing Aldi grocery chain announced this week that its first Lakewood Ranch store opens 9 a.m. Thursday, July 7. The store will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The first 100 customers to enter the new store at at 7214 University Parkway will receive a gift bag filled with a sampling of Aldi products and a gift card. Shoppers can also enter a sweepstakes for a chance to win a $500 Aldi gift card.
Aldi is the third grocery chain to set up shop at Lakewood Ranch. The others are Publix and Winn Dixie.
“Our stores are designed to make grocery shopping smarter, faster and easier, and we’ve been voted the price leader for five years running,” Matt Thon, Haines City regional vice president, said in a press release.
“We have served this community for more than seven years and are excited to continue to offer Lakewood Ranch residents an affordable way of shopping,” he said.
Aldi plans to add 150 new stores and is on track to become the third-largest grocer in the United States.
The company recently filed paperwork with Manatee County to build its fifth and sixth groceries in the Bradenton area. New stores are planned for Creekside Commons shopping center at 8810 U.S. 301 N. in Parrish, and at 8510 Heritage Green Way in Heritage Harbour, north of State Road 64 East and east of Interstate 75.
Aldi opened its first Manatee County store in 2010 at 4705 Cortez Road W. Aldi. Other Manatee County Aldi stores are at 4525 53rd Ave. E., 5715 14th St. W., and in Palmetto at 605 10th St. E.
