Tiger Woods’ PopStroke golf venue announces opening date at Sarasota’s UTC mall

The much-anticipated Tiger Woods’ golf entertainment venue PopStroke, serving Bradenton and Sarasota, has announced its opening date.

PopStroke, at 195 University Town Center Drive, just east of the Mall at University Town Center, is the first of the company’s properties with a two-story layout offering an advanced putting course with digital leaderboard, a rooftop bar and private event space.

PopStroke Entertainment Group, co-owned by Greg Bartoli and Tiger Woods’ TGR Ventures, announced the official opening Wednesday in a press release.

It will open on the public at noon Thursday, April 28.

“We are excited to introduce PopStroke to the Sarasota community as we continue our expansion,” Tiger Woods said in the press release.

Woods, 46, is one of the most fabled golfers in history with 15 major championships. He won his first Masters in 1997 by a 12-stroke margin.

“PopStroke is about bringing friends and families together to create lasting memories around the game of golf. We have created two 18-hole putting courses that can be enjoyed by all, regardless of age or skill level. We look forward to welcoming a new generation of players to our unique putting experiences at PopStroke Sarasota,” Woods said.

The venue offers an outdoor dining area with playground, full menu and a selection of craft beer, wine, cocktails and ice cream.

Customers can use PopStroke’s mobile app to order drinks and food to be delivered to them anywhere on the course, showcase their scores on a digital scoreboard, and earn loyalty rewards.

All outdoor dining offers contactless ordering via the PopStroke mobile app.

PopStroke is so-named because of Tiger Woods’ fond childhood memories of being on golf courses with his father, Earl Woods.

“Some of my happiest memories are spending time with my pops on the golf course having putting contests,” Tiger Woods said in a 2019 press release.

“I’m looking forward to others enjoying time with their kids at PopStroke. This is a new way for individuals to experience the game of golf. It’s about bringing people together,” Woods said previously.

The putting courses use synthetic turf, incorporating undulations, fairways, bunkers, and rough as seen on traditional golf courses.

The Tiger Red Course challenges even experienced putters with strong contouring and tricky hole locations. The Tiger Black Course has softened contours to create an ideal course for families and anyone new to golf, the press release said.

“We are incredibly excited to bring our unique entertainment brand to the Sarasota community,” Founder Greg Bartoli said in the press release.

“I have spent countless hours visiting Sarasota with my children for youth sporting events over the years and have long recognized the attributes that make Sarasota such a vibrant and thriving community,” Bartoli said.
