Salt & Pepper Cafe coming to downtown Bradenton. It’s all about breakfast and lunch
Salt & Pepper Cafe, a new breakfast-and-lunch place, is coming to downtown Bradenton at 608 14th St. W.
Partners Lisa Prather and Matthew Smith have been renovating the space formerly occupied by Theresa’s Restaurant with an eye toward opening sometime next week and having a grand opening on Nov. 22.
The Sunrise Breakfast Bar inside the restaurant would open at 5:30 a.m. and would be a convenient place for those working downtown or passing through downtown to grab a cup of coffee and a breakfast burrito or breakfast sandwich. They might watch a few minutes of morning TV and then be quickly on their way. Entrance would be from the rear of the building.
Prather and Smith believe this concept will prove attractive to hospital, government and other downtown shift workers.
Salt & Pepper Cafe’s full-service dining room would be open at 7 a.m. - 2 p.m. and offer seating indoors and on the patio. Among the breakfast offerings: shrimp and avocado Benedicts, crunchy French toast, pineapple upside down pancakes, and skillets. For lunch there will be a variety of hot and cold sandwiches.
Prather is a Pinellas County resident and graduate of the University of Tampa and the Art Institute of Tampa, where she earned her culinary degree as a chef. She is the owner of A Fresh Connection Catering and Florida Chefs Workshop. The workshop is a co-shared commercial kitchen, which provides food entrepreneurs the means to prepare and process their food for the consumer market.
Through her catering businesses, which delivers to clients within a 40-mile drive, she became familiar with the spot that is being transformed into Salt & Pepper Cafe.
Smith is a native of St. Petersburg who has worked in the hospitality and food business for 25 years and was trained as a chef at Le Cordon Bleu, Paris.
“We knew that we could do this and do it well,” Smith said of realizing the concept for Salt & Pepper. “We are planning really phenomenal things and are excited to be here.”
Salt & Pepper’s grand opening on Nov. 22, with Chantel Norman performing, will be an all-day event with two sets of seating, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 1:30 - 3 p.m.. Prospective guests for the grand opening are asked to make reservations at 941-216-4096.
