Love shopping at Detwiler’s in Palmetto? Now you can do it from home

Detwiler’s Farm Market now offers online ordering for its Palmetto store.

The company announced the new service this week on social media. Detwiler’s introduced online ordering at its Clark Road store in Sarasota in August, and promised that it would be coming to other stores as well. The Palmetto store is at 1800 U.S. 301 N.

“We would like to thank everyone who has supported our drive-thru service through these difficult times. We’ve listened to each of you and are happy to announce that we have fast tracked online ordering which allows us to offer 5000-plus items from our store for you to shop from the comfort of your own home or wherever it is most convenient for you,” Detwiler’s said on its web site.

“We understand this system is not yet perfect and as such will be making a number of enhancements in the coming months. Once you create your account, you can place your order and select your arrival date and time. Our associates will shop for you and bring your order to your vehicle for a contactless, convenient experience. We look forward to serving you,” the company said.

Wednesday evening, Detwiler’s made the announcement on Twitter that it was offering online ordering “right this second” for pickup Thursday with no fees through the end of the year.

All groceries have had to scramble during the pandemic to introduce new protective measures and procedures to keep the shopping experience safe for customers and associates alike.

In April, Detwiler’s introduced market express drive-through at the Palmetto store, a twin drive-up area on the east side of the building, where customers were met by a Detwiler’s associate, who took their shopping lists into store, scanned and bagged the items, and returned a couple of minutes later with food items and put the groceries into the vehicle’s trunk.

The express drive-thru was introduced after Detwiler’s had installed plexiglass shields and introduced intensified sanitation efforts in stores.
