Shut in by the coronavirus pandemic, Lakewood Ranch turns to virtual activities
In a time of a global coronavirus pandemic and social distancing, communities and businesses are moving more into the virtual realm than ever before.
This week, Lakewood Ranch announced a series of virtual events to relieve some of the apprehension and stress that arises over an unpredictable and deadly health threat.
“With the current COVID-19 crisis, we are practicing social distancing, but we we can be together virtually,” said Monaca Onstad, director of LWR Community Relations. In normal times, Onstad’s team plans and organizes live events such as a farmers market, LWR Talks, Ranch Nights, and more.
On Mondays, the virtual program, available to anyone, anywhere, features “Brain Health Boosts” on the LWR Facebook page. More information will come from Brain Health Initiative.
On Tuesdays, Mindful Moments at 10 a.m. are posted on LWR Facebook event page by the Brain Health Initiative and their expert on meditation, Trish Hart of Hart Mind Body Solutions. The program will consist of brief meditations, positive affirmations, short inspirational readings, yoga practice tips, and more.
In addition to those brain health tips, Wednesday also features Ranch Nites LIVE! Virtual Happy Hour 6-8 p.m. via Facebook Live. During this time. Visit the ‘Curbside Suncoast Food & Drink To Go’ Facebook Group for special online to-go and delivery offers.
Also on Wednesday, starting at 6 p.m., the Ranch will be live streaming a selection of local musicians to play during the indoor happy hour.
Thursdays, Keep Calm & Carry On’ Virtual Community Meditation is planned for 7-7:45 p.m. via Zoom and Facebook Live.
Fit Tip Fridays plus Fit Tips for Kids is planned ’10-10:30 a.m., via Facebook Live by Anchor Fitness & Performance owner and trainer Graham Anderson.
For Sundays, Virtual Community Brunch with Live Gospel Music is planned for 1-3 p.m. via Facebook Live.
“Please know we are here to help. Big virtual hugs. Stay safe and healthy,” Onstad said.
