Bradenton restaurants cited for roaches, omitting consumer advisory from menus

Bradenton restaurants were cited for an array of issues by inspectors during the past two weeks, including the presence of roaches, customers practicing unsanitary methods and failing to disclose which menu items include raw or undercooked food.

  • Inspectors found roaches – dead and alive – at Rocio’s Catering, 3700 26th St. W., Bradenton. A dead roach was observed in a pan sitting in storage and others were found near the ice machine and storage shelves. Ten live roaches were found by inspectors, including three on a drain board at a kitchen sink.
  • Inspectors discovered raw beef held at 50 degrees Fahrenheit, above the mandated 41 degrees, in a reach in cooler at Central Cafe, 906 Manatee Ave. E., Bradenton. The manager threw away the meat. The restaurant was cited for not including a consumer advisory on its menu for undercooked foods.
  • Customers were seen using their own personal cups and a handleless scoop to retrieve ice from a self-serve bin at the IMG Academy Golf Club’s Snack Bar, 4350 Conquistador Parkway, Bradenton.
  • Inspector’s cited Station 400, 8215 Lakewood Main Street #103, Bradenton, for failing to disclose a consumer advisory about undercooked foods (burgers, steak, egg dishes and house-made truffle hollandaise). The restaurant also failed to provide food handler certificates for employees who had been hired more than 60 days ago.
  • 1st Street Cafe was cited for failing to warn customers of a consumer advisory on undercooked food. Inspectors also said that the restaurant had no proof of food handler training for the line cook.
