Businesses of all kinds will have the chance to shape up their skills ahead of Small Business Saturday during a special expo next week.

Manatee County Redevelopment and Economic Opportunity will be holding its third annual Small Business Expo at the Downtown Central Library from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Nov. 16. The event is free and aims to equip business owners — whether they be start-ups, well established or entrepreneurs — with tools to get their business off the ground and work more efficiently.

Attendees can visit booths of local organizations, which include: CareerSource Suncoast, State College of Florida, United Way of Manatee, Manatee Chamber of Commerce and Small Business Development Centers Florida. Businesses will also have the opportunity to register into the Business Recovery Database before a natural or man-made disaster may hit.

The downtown library, located at 1301 Barcarrota Blvd., also has tools for businesses including the Small Business Conference and Meeting Area, online resources such as market research database Mergent Intellect and a number of business references.

The expo is being held during Global Entrepreneurship Week and is held ahead of Small Business Saturday, which falls this year on Nov. 25.
