Southern-style boutique to open Saturday in downtown Bradenton

A new women’s clothing store, Madeline’s Boutique, is scheduled to open Saturday at 1304 Sixth Ave. W., with a focus on southern charm fashions.

Owner Madeline Brown, a native of Paducah, Ky., aims to offer a more personal shopping experience with brands such as Jodifl and 143 Story. The store will also offer plus-size boutique clothing.

Brown’s parents and sister work in health care, and she had planned to attend nursing school until she recently moved to Bradenton with her fiance. She thought the area could use a boutique with an emphasis on southern fashions.

“Clothing can change your outlook on the day,” Brown said. “I want my customers to feel confident and beautiful.”

In addition to its line of clothing, Madeline’s has stocked a number of fashion accessories and household items for the holidays, including coffee mugs, pillows, plates and more.

Madeline’s Boutique shares space in the same downtown building as Jess Jewelers and Yadi’s Beauty Salon.

“I love it,” Yadi Diaz said of her new neighbor. “It will attract more business for all of us. What more could any woman ask: A jewelry store, a beauty salon and a clothing boutique?”

Brown consulted with other women in the area about local shopping options and scouted several locations before settling on Sixth Avenue West.

“I really love the downtown area. This building has been here a long time, and the old brick walls are really beautiful,” Brown said.

She also likes the daily vehicle traffic that flows past her shop.

Parking is in the rear of the building and looks out on the popular Sage Biscuit restaurant on 14th Street West.

Brown has done her initial marketing on Facebook and Instagram, and she is planning a website where her customers will be able to shop online.

Business hours will be 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday and 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The store will be closed Sunday and Monday.
