Parents, check your infant’s motion seat, it may be a fire hazard

Thousands of infant motion seats have been recalled due to a potential fire hazard, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Fisher-Price announced a recall Tuesday on 63,000 of their Soothing Motion Seats after dozens of instances of the product overheating were reported.

Models recalled were: CMR35, CMR36, CMR37, and DYH22. The model number can be found on the underside of the motor housing.

The seat, made for infants, bounces and sways babies as well as vibrates, plays 10 songs and nature sounds and has an overhead mobile, according to the CPSC recall.

Smart Connect Soothing Motions Seats with model number CMR39 were also included in Tuesday’s recall.

The recall effects 63,000 units and an additional 2,000 sold in Canada.

Those with Soothing Motion seats should stop using them immediately and contact Fisher-Price for a full refund, according to the recall.

The company received 36 reports of the seats overheating, including one report of a fire in the motor housing, according to the CPSC recall. No injuries were reported in the incidents.

Soothing Motion Seats were sold at BuybuyBaby, Target, Toys R Us, Walmart along with other stores nationwide and online. They were sold from November 2015 through October 2017 for about $160 for the Soothing Motions Seat and $175 for the Smart Connect Soothing Motions Seat, according to the recall.
