Farmers, ranchers invited to storm recovery workshop in Palmetto

Farmers, ranchers and members of rural communities are invited to a disaster assistance and hurricane recovery workshop at 10 a.m. on Oct. 31 at the Manatee County Extension Service, Kendrick Auditorium, 1303 17th St. W., Palmetto.

The event, hosted by the U. S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Service Center in Manatee County, is free and open to the public.

Representatives from USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and Farm Service Agency (FSA) will present information on disaster assistance programs and resources available.

Workshop topics include emergency assistance for livestock and crop-related expenses and losses; financial assistance programs to help with farm and farmland damage; deadlines for applying for disaster assistance programs; and programs to help with restoration and rehabilitation of farm and ranch land.
